Aluminium Alloy - Commercial Alloy - 6262 - T6 Extrusions

Aluminium alloy 6262 is a heat treatable alloy with very good corrosion resistance and strength. Additions of bismuth to the alloy mean that 6262 has excellent machinability and surface finish. High-speed steel or carbide tooling can be used to obtain smooth finishes. Heavy cutting requires oil lubricant but light cutting can be done dry. Alloy 6262 can be used in place of 2011 when higher corrosion resistance and better anodising response is required. PLEASE NOTE: Due to European Environmental Protection Directives (2000/53/CE-ELV – For the automotive sector, 2002/95/CE-RoHS – For the electrical and electronics sector), this alloy has been replaced by Alloy 6026 which has a lower Lead content.

2017A aluminium alloy is a heat treatable, wrought aluminium product which includes the significant addition of copper as an added alloying element. The material offers an attractive combination of high strength with excellent fatigue resistance. 2017A offers good corrosion resistance though traditional welding is not possible as the corrosion resistance characteristics would be affected. The alloy can only be welded using resistance welding techniques. With superior strength, ductility and formability, 2017A aluminium is commonly used in engineering applications. The material also offers greater strength when compared to 2011 aluminium.

Aluminium Alloy - Commercial Alloy - 6082 - T6 Extrusions

Aluminium alloy 6082 is a medium strength alloy with excellent corrosion resistance. It has the highest strength of the 6000 series alloys. Alloy 6082 is known as a structural alloy. In plate form, 6082 is the alloy most commonly used for machining. As a relatively new alloy, the higher strength of 6082 has seen it replace 6061 in many applications. The addition of a large amount of manganese controls the grain structure which in turn results in a stronger alloy. It is difficult to produce thin walled, complicated extrusion shapes in alloy 6082. The extruded surface finish is not as smooth as other similar strength alloys in the 6000 series. In the T6 and T651 temper, alloy 6082 machines well and produces tight coils of swarf when chip breakers are used.

3103 Aluminium

3103 aluminium alloy is a commercial aluminium which is close in properties to 3003. With very good resistance to atmospheric corrosion and excellent mechanical properties, 3103 is a versatile alloy which is used in the aerospace, oil and gas industry and automotive sector amongst others. The material has improved mechanical properties over 1000 series aluminium alloys, especially at elevated working temperatures. This feature widens the use of the alloy as a construction cladding material.

Aluminium Alloy - Commercial Alloy - 6106 - T6 Extrusions

Aluminium alloy 6106 is an extrusion alloy designed to provide optimum combination of mechanical properties, complexity of shape, minimum section thickness and good surface finish together with the good resistance, weldability and formability associated with the 6000 series alloys. Very complex shapes are possible which are not obtainable with stronger alloys such as 6182. (6000 series alloys achieve their properties by thermal treatment which can be adjusted to provide combinations of strength and formability conditions with good corrosion resistance and weldability. Because the properties are obtained by thermal treatment, fusion welding reduces the non-welded properties by up to 50%.)

6026 Aluminium

Recently developed to meet European Environmental Protection Directives, 6026 aluminium alloy offers excellent corrosion resistance and is suitable for anodising to provide both decorative and hard anodised finishes. The alloy does not contain Tin (Sn) as inclusion of this element can cause cracking in machine parts when subjected to stress and high temperature. 6026 is highly suitable for extensive machining especially in use with high speed automatic lathes. EU Environmental Protection Directive - complies with: 2000/53/CE-ELV – For the automotive sector, 2002/95/CE-RoHS – For the electrical and electronics.
