Temper Types

Temper types for Alloy 7068:

  • • T6511 (Standard supply temper)
  • • T76511 (Available to order for greater resistance to stress corrosion cracking)

Supplied Forms

  • • Extruded Bar
  • • Extrusions

Weldability

In common with other 7000 series aluminium alloys, 7068 alloy can only be welded with great care. This form of joining is not usually employed. If welding is contemplated please consult our Technical Sales Dept.

Fabrication

Fabrication characteristics of Alloy 7068:

  • • Machinability: Good (similar to 7075)
  • • Anodising: Responds well to all standard anodising techniques. In hard anodising, it tends to form a highly abrasion-resistant surface.
  • • Corrosion Resistance: General resistance in tempers T6511 & T76511 is Rated C. Stress Corrosion Cracking resistance is Rated C (T6511) and Rated B (T76511) (based on NaCl alternate immersion tests).
