6005A – T6 Aluminium Extrusion

6005A – T6 Aluminium Extrusion

Aluminium alloy 6005A is a medium-strength, heat-treatable alloy offering excellent corrosion resistance and very good mechanical performance. Its properties sit between alloys 6061 and 6082, and in many applications it can be used interchangeably with them. However, 6005A offers superior extrusion characteristics and a better mill surface finish. While it is not ideal for very thin-wall or highly complex sections, it is more readily extrudable than alloy 6082. 6005A tubes exhibit excellent bending characteristics, making them well suited for structural and profile-based applications. Note: Mechanical properties listed below apply to the T6 temper.

APPLICATIONS

Alloys 6005 and 6005A are typically used for intricate and structural extrusions, including:

  • • Furniture tubing
  • • Railway and bus profile structures
  • • Pylons, platforms, and pipelines
  • • Portable ladders
  • • Structural sections requiring higher strength than 6060 and 6063
